Welcome to Miss Wolfe's Kindergarten Class website!
Here you will find information about what is happening in our classroom! I'll post updates about our curriculum and classroom news. You will also find pictures, book and music reviews, and information about special events. Be sure to visit often!
One of the most important things we do in kindergarten throughout the year is learn to focus. Children need to understand what it means to focus on something, to know what it looks and sounds like when you focus, and to know why it is important to focus.
Focusing is paying attention to what you are doing. It looks like someone looking at the talker, the book, the board, or whatever task they are doing.
When you are focused, you are not looking around at other things in the room, staring out the window, or playing with your shoes. It might sound like talking, but it would be talking about what the task is.
Asking random questions, or talking about something that you were reminded of because of what you are doing is not part of focusing; this gets the learner off task.
When you are focused, you work the whole time. This helps the worker complete their tasks.

Please be sure to send me a note when there is a change in your child's dismissal plans. Each day I have children going different places. Usually the children remember where they are going, but I check our lists and notes everyday before they walk out the door. It is especially important when I have a substitute to have the changes in writing too. If your child is taking a class after school or goes to Daisies, it is not necessary to send me a note every week; once you have written me a note that they will be going to the class, I will put it on my after school activity list. Thank-you for your cooperation with this!
Thanks!
